WHY IS GROUND FLAXSEED A SUPERFOOD IN MENOPAUSE?

Hello Ladies,

Today I want to talk about ground flax seeds and why they have so many nutritional properties that make them stand out among other foods.

A CHAMPION IN OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS

The first is the content of alpha-linoleic acid. 15 g of seeds provide 135% of the daily needs of omega-3.

A PHYTOESTROGEN WITH A VERY SPECIAL FIBER: LIGNANS

The second great quality is the presence of lignans, compounds similar to fiber —with all its benefits for digestion— that are also antioxidants, since they are polyphenols.

It also has mucilage, which when dissolved in water, forms a gel with a very beneficial effect on the intestinal tract, helping against chronic constipation.

Lignans are formed in your gut from plant matter. Women who excrete the most lignans have the lowest risk of developing breast cancer

AN ENERGY PROVIDER

They provide vitamin B1, a nutrient that participates in the processes of energy production from food and is essential for the health of the heart and the nervous system. 15 g of seeds provide approximately 15% of the daily needs.

The three fundamental properties of flax seeds act separately or jointly on different physiological systems.

THEY PROTECT OUR PRECIOUS HEART

One of the most benefited by regular consumption is the cardiovascular system. Flaxseeds help keep blood vessels in good condition, prevent the accumulation of cholesterol and triglycerides, which contributes to combat diseases such as arteriosclerosis and, consequently, heart and brain infarctions or circulatory disorders.

FLAXSEEDS HAVE AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY EFFECT

The anti-inflammatory effect of flaxseed has justified its recommendation in the symptomatic treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis, psoriasis and lupus.

THEY HELP US TO GAIN HORMONAL BALANCE AND CANCER PREVENTION

Taking ground flaxseed helps reduce the symptoms of menopause. Studies have shown that it reduces night flashes and hot flashes.

Regular consumption of ground flax seeds increase in the activity of detoxifying enzymes that eliminate carcinogenic or pre-carcinogenic agents. In this way, they reduce the risk of breast or colon cancer.

Lignans are also anticancer because they are polyphenols, the most important group of agents that protect genetic material from free radical attacks.

THEY HELP US TO CONTROL OUR WEIGHT

The seeds reduce blood pressure and blood glucose levels. In addition, they help control weight, especially reducing fat in the waist, which is where it does the most damage.

THEY HELP US TO MAINTAIN A BEAUTIFUL SKIN

Ground flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and phytoestrogens, both of which beautify the skin.

How can you introduce ground flax seeds into your daily diet?

You can add them to yogurts, to your cereals, mix with soups or creams, sprinkle on top of salads or vegetables. Alternatively, simply mix them with a glass of juice.

To obtain all its benefits, nutritionists advise consuming between 30 and 50 g. It is important not to grind the flaxseeds until just before consumption, as they lose their properties very quickly.

You should start with one tablespoon a day and gradually increase to ¼ cup each day.
